  • | This piece was built in late 2019 as the first part of a fretted/fretless duo. It is a five string Whaleback, built with a 33" scale and tuned B-G. Despite the shorter scale, the sound on this bass is clear, focused and massive, with a thundering B-string that has a clearly audible fundamental.

This is a "Exotic Series" build, with full katalox across the body, fingerboard, and headstock for a uniform stealthy look. The woods were selected, not just for their sonic properties, but to also provide a minimal look, while at the same time bringing attention to the purely artistic visage of the Whaleback design.

The body is obeche, with a quartersawn maple neck, with premium Skjold Tone Audio pickups and preamp rounding out the electronics package.
