| Whaleback in Katalox
| This is a special piece, built in September of 2020. It is a five string Whaleback, built with a 33" scale and tuned B-G. Despite the shorter scale, the sound on this bass is clear, focused and massive, with a thundering B-string that has a clearly audible fundamental.
This is a premium build, with full katalox across the body, fingerboard, and headstock for a uniform stealthy look. The woods were selected to both provide a minimal look, while at the same time bringing attention to the purely artistic visage of the Whaleback design.

This bass features an obeche body. Obeche provides an open sound with strong harmonic overtone content.

A quartersawn maple neck is used for this bass, providing stability and an open tone.
